Structural Purlins

The important component of any PEB building are secondary members, also known as secondary structure. This type comes in between primary framing elements, creating a structure within structure. These are used to distribute loads from surface to primary structure and the foundation. These are supportive in such a way that, help in resisting winds and earthquakes.

C Purlin

PURLINS

Purlin refers to roof framing. This supports the roof sheeting. It is a horizontal, longitudinal, structural member in a roof. These are in turn supported by walls.

These are structural members made of cold formed steel Z sections which are supported on columns or building walls. Section designations can be particular to a manufacturer. Cold formed members are effective on weight basis relative to mill rolled sections for secondary member applications.

C Section Purlin

As the name implies, this is formed in the shape of letter C. These are mainly used to support walls and floors. These are also used for supporting the beams required for flooring. This can be used in a single span as they have similar extensions in the end. These C purlins are available in many ranges of thickness and are made to the requirement of the client up to any length, making them to be easily modified for the usage in buildings of many sizes.

The Z section purlins are much stronger than C purlins. These are mostly used together at joints. These are horizontal beams that are built to shape a building shell structure’s roof and wall joints.
